Earth Observation Research Cluster

a joint initiative of the two remote sensing departments at the University of Würzburg by Prof. Stefan Dech (Remote Sensing) and Prof. Hannes Taubenböck (Global Urbanization and Remote Sensing).

The EO Research cluster also has an institutional cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), specifically with the German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD).

The main focus is on remote sensing research on the topics "Ecosystem Functions and Biodiversity", "Sustainable Land Management", and "Urban remote sensing".

The Cluster also has a long history of capacity building/professional training activities especially in Africa.

The EO Research Hub is responsible for the international Master's program “Applied Earth Observation and Geoanalysis of the Living Environment" (EAGLE).
