Remote sensing-based yield data

  • Subject: Remote sensing, yield modelling
  • Study site: Bavaria, Germany
  • Funding: University of Bayreuth
  • Duration: 01.06.2024 - 01.06.2027
  • Contact: Maninder Singh Dhillon, Tobias Ullmann

The aim of the research and development project is to create up-to-date, remote sensing-based yield assessments for Bavaria, focussing on the crop maize. The planned geodata set will be created using freely available data from the Copernicus mission (in particular Sentinel-2) and MODIS data. Based on a proven methodology, annual crop yield data will be generated at field or field level. The data set shows the yield (mass) per unit area for Bavaria's entire arable land and is validated by comparing it with the official yield statistics.
