Thin Section Lab

for the preparation of thin sections for transmitted and reflected light microscopy and for the electron microprobe

Sample Preparation

Laboratory for rock preparation and mineral separation equipped with jaw crushers, rock mills, sieve columns, magnetic separators, etc.

Geochemistry Lab

for the preparation of samples for X-ray fluorescence analysis and powder diffraction, equipped with small rock mills, muffle furnaces, gas burner columns, drying cabinets, analysis scales, partly wet chemical equipment

X-ray Fluorescence Analysis (XRF)

X-ray fluorescence spectrometer MINIPAL4 from PANALYTICAL for the analysis of minor and major element concentrations as well as some selected trace elements.

Electron Microprobe Analysis (EMPA)

Microprobe JEOL JXA-8800L, equipped with 4 wavelength dispersive spectrometers and a microprobe JEOL JXA-8200 with 5 wavelength dispersive spectrometers, and detectors for secondary and backscattered electrons

X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD)

Malvern Panalytical  powder diffractometer with evaluation software HighScore

Fluid Inclusions

Microthermometry and cryometry apparatus for the analysis of fluid inclusions

Photomicroscope

Polarization microscope photoequipment LEICA DM-RXP for transmitted and reflected light with video camera, screen, video printer and digital image acquisition
